Authenticity
Authenticity is saying the true thing, clearly, especially when the polished version would be easier. This page is the master copy of what it means here, and everywhere it shows up in our network.
What we mean by it
Most of the web is a performance: follower counts bought by the thousand, photos of a life nobody is living, traffic numbers rounded up until they are fiction, pages written by machines pretending to be people, written for other machines pretending to read. Authenticity is the refusal to do any of that. Real names. Real numbers, including the small ones and the embarrassing ones. Real mistakes, labeled as mistakes.
It connects to the name over the door. Nothing is perfectly clean, and a claim of perfect cleanliness is itself a kind of lie. Clear is different: clear can be checked. Everything on this page, and on our dev page, is written so you can verify it yourself.
How we practice it
- Honest numbers, corrected in public. Our dev page once said 2,000 pages because it was a tidy number. We recounted the actual files (2,048 live), changed the number, and left a note explaining the change.
- The full traffic truth. We report our visitors with the discounts applied: how many were us, how many were probably bots, and what is left. About 245 real people in our first measured week. Small, and true.
- Mistakes get a page, not a burial. Our bloopers live in public at how far we've come, because the wrong turns are part of the real story.
- Real people behind it. This network is made by a small team at The Studio, working with AI partners in the open. What you are reading is the actual situation, not a brand voice.
- No fake polish. If a page is a demo, it says demo. If a number is an estimate, it says estimate. If a site is down, the status says down, in red, where everyone can see it.
Authenticity across the network
Every number we publish, with the counting shown: pages, status, speed, weight, and the real-users math.
Our beautiful mistakes: the bloopers, the wrong versions, the stuff that did not work, kept in public on purpose.
Authenticity for news: what happened, in plain language, with the noise and the spin removed.
Authenticity for recipes: the actual recipe, all of it, nothing padded to keep you scrolling.
Authenticity's partner value: treating the person on the other side of the screen like a person.
The whole story of this network, including the parts that are unfinished, stated plainly.
The test we use
Before anything here ships, one question: could we defend this page, this number, this claim, out loud, to the person reading it? If not, it does not go up. That is the whole policy, and it is enough.
